When I Grow Up...

I Want to Be a Mother.

How many of you remember this song from the Brite Music tape, I'm a Mormon?  Didn't all LDS families have a copy of this tape?  We did and so did Ben's family.

This morning I was playing an MP3 player that is full of kid's songs and this song came on.  Mag was crying, Gar was screaming, Uly was trying to climb up something that isn't climbable - you get the picture.  Chaos.  That song came on and I suddenly looked at my kids with new eyes.

I was reminded of why I chose this job of Mother.  It was because I knew it was the right thing to do.  I knew how much joy and blessings it would bring.  I knew that a house full of love needs a family.

Well, anyway, the song was a nice little reminder of my priorities.  I don't give my kids cookies and yellow balloons all day long and I'm pretty sure we're not going to try for 6 kids, but still the gist of the meaning is there.

I have been scowering the internet looking for the tape "I'm a mormon" It's not on the brite music website. Do you guys have the copy from when I was little?

We had that tape and ripped it to mp3's. It's not the best quality but it is still pretty darn good. I'll burn a CD and mail it to you. I was thinking that I would give all you guys and my siblings copies of it.

Ahh....perspective. So elusive. Glad you found it...now don't lose it again! :)

LOL! If only perspective would stay around. That slippery little fellow likes to show up and then run away right under your nose. :)

Nice reminder of what counts. We can never have too many of those.

LOVE that picture of the Boyz!! I was just musing the other day about the concept of "Family First" and how it was so foreign to my personal experience until I met your Grandma Vira. And how it has pulled me back to where I really WANT to be headed, a joyful place to experience.

"...a house full of love needs a family". I love that, Jess. Those reminders of why we are doing what we are doing are necessary and wonderful. I feel that way a lot when my kids are asleep. I just stand over them and take in every inch of their growing bodies.

Seizing this moment while they are snoozing helps me to appreciate and fall in love with them all over again. I am sure it is because they are not yelling and smearing jelly on the walls and burring my dinnerware in the yard. Nonetheless, we all need to check ourselves and remember the power we are entrusted with as women serving in such a sacred stewardship.

I have only heard that song from you. I think you guys burned it onto a cd with some other crazy japanese-circus tracks.

Love ya!
